What We Believe

CORE BELIEFS

THE SCRIPTURES

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.  It is the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

GOD

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

MAN

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations. By his free choice man sinned against God and caused a separation between man and God. A chasm man cannot cross by our own efforts.

SALVATION

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers the gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

GOD'S PURPOSE OF GRACE

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers the gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

THE CHURCH

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ.

BAPTISM + THE LORD'S SUPPER

Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in Christ Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby Christians, through partaking of the bread and juice, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

THE KINGDOM

The Kingdom of God is the realm of salvation into which men enter by trustful, childlike commitment to Jesus Christ. Christians ought to pray and to labor that the Kingdom may come and God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The full consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of Jesus Christ and the end of this age.

EVANGELISM + MISSIONS

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man’s spirit by God’s Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations.

STEWARDSHIP

God is the source of all blessings and all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully and regularly, serving Him with their time, talents, and material possessions. Being good stewards, all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and furthering His Kingdom.

THE FAMILY

Marriage, between one man and one woman, is a sacred covenant reflecting the relationship between Christ and His church. Husbands and wives, equal before God, have distinct roles: husbands are called to sacrificially love and lead their wives, while wives are to respectfully support and submit to their husbands' leadership. Children are a gift from God and are to honor and obey their parents. Parents are entrusted with the responsibility to raise them to live God honoring lives.

baptism

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.
