At Bethel, we believe every Christian is called to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ and to help others do the same—to be disciples who make disciples. This year, we are intentionally emphasizing discipleship, and this page exists to encourage you in that calling and provide simple, trustworthy resources along the way.

Below are resources meant to support your growth as a disciple of Jesus and equip you to help others do the same. You don’t need to do everything—prayerfully choose one discipline or next step and take it in faith.

SPiritual Disciples

Spiritual disciplines are the practices that help us grow as disciples of Jesus—shaping our hearts, minds, and habits to reflect His character. These are not merely religious duties, but rhythms that cultivate intimacy with God, obedience to His Word, and a life that points others to Him. Whether it’s prayer, Scripture reading, worship, or service, disciplines provide practical ways to grow in faith and become a disciple who makes disciples.

…discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness…” - 1 Timothy 4:7

Scripture

God grows His people through His Word.
Regular time in Scripture shapes our hearts, renews our minds, and teaches us how to follow Jesus faithfully. These resources are here to help you read, understand, and delight in God’s Word.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

Prayer

Disciples learn to depend on the Lord through prayer.
Prayer is how we commune with God, express our needs, and align our hearts with His will. These resources are meant to encourage a faithful, growing prayer life.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6

Worship

Disciples respond to God with reverence, gratitude, and praise.
Worship shapes our loves and reminds us who God is and who we are before Him. These resources help cultivate a life of worship—both gathered with others and in daily rhythms at home. Use the our church podcast or the Sing Hymnal to engage with timeless songs of praise and dive into the recommended books to deepen your understanding of what it means to worship our great God.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly… singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” — Colossians 3:16

Family Worship

Disciples respond to God with reverence, gratitude, and praise.
Though the practice of worshiping together at home may feel unfamiliar to many today, it is a historic rhythm of the Christian faith. Family worship is for households of all ages, not just those with young children. Through prayer, Scripture, song, and discussion, families can grow together in discipleship, model faith for one another, and see daily life transformed into an act of worship.

"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise" - Deuteronomy 6:6‑7

Theology

Growing in your understanding of God and His Word equips you to live faithfully and guide others in discipleship. Theology helps us see the bigger picture of God’s story, His character, and His work in the world. Some books may be more challenging than others, but each one offers a chance to deepen your faith and sharpen your mind. Persevere through the difficult parts, and you’ll discover greater clarity, conviction, and confidence in following Jesus.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”  – Romans 12:2
